Choosing Your XYZ
Hello and welcome back to Coding In Fire. Today, we’re going to find out how to stick with your morning routine for XYZ.
What is XYZ? It’s whatever you want it to be! It’s a long term goal. It’s a short term goal. It’s something that you want to accomplish or improve in your life.
Here are some examples:
- Health & Diet Goals
- Fitness Goals
- Career Goals
- Planning Goals
In order to stick to XYZ, you need to know what you want to accomplish.
Health goals can include, for example:
- Oral Health
- Mindfulness
- Longevity
Start with one, and add as many as you think you need. The options are literally endless, so try and pick what is most important to you to get started.
Making the Routine
If for example you picked Oral Health, you would research actions to take that are generally proven by society to help. For example:
- Water Floss
- Brush Teeth
- Mouth Wash
- Tongue Scraper
Once you have your list of actions, create a simple checklist in your favorite application, open that list, and check off each action, in order, every morning.
If you want to stick to a morning routine, set a goal, break it down into tasks, and make a checklist that you will act on every morning no matter what.
Start with one or two small goals so that you don’t overwhelm yourself, then slowly add to the list until you find your sweet spot.
Here’s my checklist that I’ve developed over the years.
Goals:
- Cleanliness/Tidiness
- Longevity
- Fitness
- Planning
Actions:
Wake: Wake, Weigh/Photo, Make Bed | 5 Min |
Bathroom Routines: Clean Teeth, Wash Face, Cold Shower, Hydration | 5 min |
Morning Workout: Cardio + Stretch | 15 min |
Daily Prep: Shower, Lotion, Face Mask, Mediation | 15 min |
Tidy Up: Dishes, Clutter, Trash, Laundry | 15 min |
Planning: Re-evaluate Goals & Plan the Day | 15 min |
As usual, feel free to take any of these goals or actions that resonate with you, toss what you don’t like, and add your own!
Leave what your list looks like in the comments so that we can make the best list together.
– With Love, Fire
